2016 Hillsborough United Over-40 season

Hello everyone,

For all those following the Hillsborough United Over-40 season, we are about to embark on another adventure. After being moved up to the Over-40 A division last year, this year we are relegated back to B.

Unfortunately we lost some old team members that will be sorely missed. However, with some new faces and some returning comrads, we will be very competitive and hopefully will minimize the void of those who left.

Good luck to all and stay healthy

Hillsborough United 2014 season

For all that follow the Hillsborough United SC we have team updates. The Hillsborough United Over-30 team has FULLY COMPLETED the transition for team management from Sergio to Fabrizio. The team will be in good hands and I know Fabrizio will do right by all the players on the squad. With the promotion in A, games will be MUCH harder to get through, but the roster has been updated with some young blood good players. Good luck to the over-30 team for 2014.

Sergio will continue the management of Hillsborough United Over-40. With the addition of some new players and the core group from last year we expect to have a successful season. Last year was our first year in the over-40 division. Great 1st year as we came in 3rd place and lost in the playoff by a score of 3-2. The goal this year is to either win the Division or win the playoffs.

Singley field is still our home and we hope to see some people come out and root us on.

Schedule soon to be posted for the upcoming 2014 season for Hillsborough United Over-40

All,

Welcome to the Tricounty soccer 2013 season. Hillsborough United now has 2 soccer teams: An over-30 and an over-40. Both teams are in their respective B divisions and are both looking to be STRONG contenders.

While the over-30 team is an already established force in their division, the new over-40 team has a core group of players coming from past Hillsborough United teams.

ALL games are to be played at Singley Field with over-30 Hillsborough United playing on Tuesdays and the over-40 team playing on Thursdays.

Looking forward to a great season.....good luck to all

Sergio

All,

Welcome to the Tricounty soccer 2012 season. This year Hillsborough United will again be in the over-30 B division trying to advance the A division and so winning its first-ever title.

With a smart head coach, the core group of players remaining intact and the addition of 5 very skilled players, the team is aiming for the top of the division.

All home games will be played at Singley field in Hillsborough NJ.

Have a great season team.

Sergio

BITTER END TO A GREAT SEASON

Team,
First of all I want to congratulate Paolo on our lone goal last night. For those who weren't there, we lost 2-1 in the semifinal against Rat Pack. The season has come to a close and I am disappointed of how we ended it. The 2 goals we got are legit ones and Teddy and the defense have nothing to be ashamed of. In my opinion, the ref's did a GREAT job as they called a good game. Although the field was playable, because of how wet the AstroTurf was, the ball picked-up too much speed as it hit the ground. I thought I had the equalizer but I was fooled by the turf and couldn't get to it on time. SO SORRY GUYS. Let's blame the loss on Scott, Mahler, Bill, and Jim as they weren't there :)
Our team played a GREAT game, but they seemed to have better control of the ball. I'm dissapointed we lost, but I think we had an even match. Whatever the case, maybe playing at Torpey wasn't my best judgement call, and I am sorry for that. MENTAL NOTE: Don't play on turf after rain.......NO BALL CONTROL.
Now that the SOB part is out of the way, I want to congratulate you all for a GREAT season. We came at the top of our division and, looking at the archives of the league, it was the first time this happened. The team played great games in all aspects. Teddy, as usual, was solid in goal. Scott, Paul, Bob, Dirk, John, and Jeremy protected our goealie to the point I saw him yawning many times. The midfield with Luigi, Alex, Marco, Jim, and Abel was the heart of the team, covering for our defense and providing great balls for our forwards. Paolo and Doug gave the opposing teams nightmares on their defense. The bench (which to me is the MVP of the team) composed of Bill, Rich, Mariano, Mahler, and Cam came into the games giving the starters breathing room and provided great support by being ready when called upon and their selfnessless towards the team. The coach.....ah Fabrizio. As usual, we had disagreements, but he did a great job in directing instructions and making timely substitutions in keeping EVERYONE involved (some more, others less, but everyone played considerable minutes).
For the first time (in a LONG TIME) we will not have the year end celebration at Bill's house as he cannot commit. With that said, we'll have it at my house on Tuesday night Aug 30 at 6:30 PM. Please let me know if you will be able to make it or not so I can plan the food and drinks accordingly. When responding, please let me know how many IMMEDIATE family members you plan to bring.
See you all on Tuesday night Aug 30.
Thanks
Sergio

End of a GREAT season

Team,

Let me start by saying that I couldn't have inherited a better team than the one Zobre gave me. This season you ALL represent to perfection what the word TEAM is all about. We had some up's and downs mostly because we had new teammates and because we were in a division more competitive than we're used to, but in the end, I wouldn't go to "battle" with any other team than ours. For those that played A LOT, you guys gave it your best, and it showed. For those that had to sacrifice playing time, you did it for the good of the team, and it is recognized. Not everyone can be 31, 32, 33 or have legs the size of a horse, or have lungs the capacity of a whale to be at 100% for 90 minutes.  To everyone, thank you

Now to last nights game. For those that weren't there, we lost on PK's. The game was tied 2-2 on goals by Doug and Alex but then irony wanted that the 2 guys that tooks us to the PK's missed their kicks and we wound up losing 3-1 and that's all she wrote. There was a VERY questionable call by the ref to have them re-kick a PK on Andy's block but, as you all know by know, the ref is always right and nothing can be done.

I want to thank Andy for coming out and giving his all in goal and he almost pulled one off for us. Thanks Andy.

Thank you Fabrizio for taking over and making my life easy with directing the team. It's hard to be a coach when there's no mid week practice and you have to make things up during a game. He did an excellent job and he'll be better for it next year, now knowing "his" players and how the league works.

At the biginning of the season, all I wanted was not to come in last place since this was my first year taking over and being in B. Now, I have to honestly say, there's a slight bitter tast in my mouth for not going to the finals. We had a GREAT season and what made us co-champs last year in C, doomed us this year (PK's).

Bill and I spoke last night and decided to have our year end celebration again at his house. The date is Aug 31 (Tuesday night) and we can start gathering at around 6:30 (usual game time start). If you could, please let me know who will attend, so I can make a somewhat judgement call on amount of food and drinks. (Andy and Ivan you played this year with us and are obviously invited as well)

Again, thank you all for a great season and I hope to see you on Aug 31.

Sergio
